Anderson&Associates provides pro-bono legal assistance to Brooklyn Hammer Attack victim family

Anderson & Associates Law, a NYC-based law firm, was retained on a pro bono basis to provide legal services to Mr. Liu and his two young children. Our firm was referred to by Senator Iwen Chu’s office, and has been working closely with the non-profit organization, Parent-Child Relationship Association (PCR) for Mr. Liu’s family and for another pro bono matter.

The firm has been working on setting up a special needs trust to allow the GoFundMe donations to go directly to the care and support of the children, as well as providing immigration-related services to Mr. Liu’s extended family who is currently abroad and wishes to come to support the family during this difficult time.

Tiffany Wong, speaking on behalf of the firm at the press conference shared, “What many people don’t understand is that GoFundMe donations can easily be seen as income for the recipients. This has many consequences apart from simple tax liability, for example, it can lead to the loss of government benefits that are more important now than ever, such as the life-saving medical care that the family received at Bellevue Hospital.”

Managing Principal of Anderson & Associates Law, Yen-Yi Anderson, also shared that the firm is committed to extending its fullest support to Mr. Liu and his family. “As a mother of two young girls myself, I was heartbroken to hear about this horrifying attack on David and Sophia. I and my team here at Anderson and Associates are eager to provide any legal assistance that the Liu family needs, and we are sending all of our hope and support for the full recovery of these two innocent souls.”

“Our firm is humbled to be a part of the community that has come together to support our fellow New Yorkers. As attorneys, we simply push the paperwork through. It is really the collaboration and joint efforts of all parties such as PCR and the senators and representatives that bring things to fruition. We will continue to help the Liu family in whatever capacity we are able. It has been incredibly inspiring to see the community come together at a time like this in the way that it has,” Tiffany added.
