Anderson & Associates Congratulates Asian American Bar Association of New York for ABA Raisch Award

by Madeline Liggett, on November 9, 2022

On Thursday, October 20th, 2022, Asian American Bar Association of New York (“AABANY”) was awarded American Bar Association’s (“ABA”) 2022 Cindy A. Raisch Award. AABANY was established in 1989 as the first association of Asian American Lawyers in New York. Our very own Managing Principal, Yen-Yi Anderson is a panelist on this referral service which we are so honored to be a part of.

At Anderson & Associates, we want to congratulate the Asian American Bar Association of New York Legal Referral & Information Service (“LRIS”) for their well-deserved success and recognition for the significant public services that their referral and information services provide.

AABANY announced a press release where they comment, “The Asian American Bar Association of New York (“AABANY”) is proud to announce that its Legal Referral and Information Service (“LRIS”) has been honored with the American Bar Association’s Cindy A. Raisch Award. AABANY received this award in recognition that its service connects members of the New York Asian American and Pacific Islander (“AAPI”) community with appropriate legal counsel, overcoming linguistic and cultural barriers and increasing the accessibility of legal referral services in the greater New York area for an underserved demographic. As a result, AABANY’s LRIS may be the only LRIS program throughout the nation that specifically addresses the legal needs of the Asian American and Pacific Islander (“AAPI”) communities. The award was presented at the American Bar Association 2022 National Lawyer Referral Workshop in New Orleans on October 21, 2022.” (https://cdn.ymaws.com/www.aabany.org/resource/resmgr/pdfs/2022/11042022_PR_LRIS_ABA_Raisch_.pdf)

American Bar Association writes, “This year’s award honors the Asian American Bar Association of New York Legal Referral & Information Service (“AABANY”) for its development and implementation of a major program concept that increases the public’s access to appropriate legal and nonlegal services. As a new program, AABANY’s legal referral and information service connect members of the New York Asian American community with appropriate legal counsel, overcoming linguistic and cultural barriers and increasing the accessibility of legal referral services in the greater New York area for an underserved demographic.” (https://www.americanbar.org/news/abanews/aba-news-archives/2022/10/referral-agencies-in-michigan-new-york-honored/)
